COURSE MAPS AND DESCRIPTION
The Victoria Lake Club Hub
The race briefing and registration process takes place at the Victoria Lake Clubhouse. The Club house grounds are also home to the transition area, the race start and finish line. The club house have got a restaurant with an ala carte restaurant and hamburger stand as well as a licensed bar.
The Finish chute is lined with lawn and trees. Perfect for spectators and athletes to laze. The course design is of such a nature that it great for spectators to keep a thumb on the race pulse on the swim, cycle and run! The medal ceremonies stakes place on the veranda in front of the VLC hall. See map for greater details on the course maps details around the VLC grounds.

The Swim Course
All races have a wet start. The Swim Course for the Standard Distance race consists of two 750m laps (in red), swum clockwise and the Half Standard one lap. The Quarter Standard race course is a single rectangular course of 400meters (in orange).

The Cycle Course
The Cycle Course (in lime green) is closed to vehicular traffic and consist of 9.7km laps. The Standard Distance course consist of four laps, the Half Standard, two, and the Quarter Standard, one lap. The mount dismount line (in white) is on Lake Road, outside the main entrance of VLC. Athletes must keep to the left lane, leaving the mount dismount line, and at all times stay on the left lane between the yellow line and the white centre line. At the Rand Airport Rd intersection with Power Road is a 90dgree turn to the left, from where athletes will proceed to a turnaround point, just before the Rand Airport Road Circle. From here they will proceed back to the Power Road intersection and take a left via the slipway to the second turn around point. From here athletes will cycle straight back to the VLC entrance.

The Run Course
The Run Course (in blue) consists of laps of 2.5km. As athletes leave the transition they join the run course at the “traffic” triangle just before the water table. Athletes will proceed onto the run course on the right of the triangle and stay on the right of the out and back run course. The run route snakes out of the VLC grounds onto Lake road and run to the main entrance of Germiston Lake Park. Here is a turnaround point where athletes will (staying on the right) proceed to a dog leg, under the bridge of Joubert Road, where athletes must collect one elastic band on each lap. On every lap, including the last lap, athletes must go past the traffic triangle at the water table (where there will be coke and water sachets). On the final lap, athletes must veer right, onto the finish chute to the finish line (in white).
