Final in the Sasol Cross Triathlon Series 2010

Friday, 05 March 2010 SasolCrossTriSeries2010

A fun day for the whole family, the final leg of the annual Sasol Cross Triathlon Series proves the toughest challenge yet.

Set to take place on Sunday, 14 March 2010, the final leg of the annual Sasol Cross Triathlon Series is the toughest event of the series when participants will be faced with some of the most difficult challenges to date. Held at North West University, Vaal Campus, Vanderbijlpark , Sasol invites the whole family to participate or simply cheer on the athletes as they test their endurance levels on the day.

Launched in 2009, the popular Sasol series, which is characterised by family participation, is made up of three events. The first two legs of the series were held in Roodepoort and Vanderbijlpark earlier this year, with each event proving to be tougher than the one before. In each event the overall category winners walked away with a total of R10 000 in prize money. The event on 14 March will offer the same lucrative prizes.

On the day participants can choose to take part in either the triathlon or the duathlon. The triathlon series requires an athlete to participate in a 400m swim, 20km mountain bike ride and a 4km trail run. Alternatively, the duathlon consists of a 2km trail run, a 20km mountain bike ride followed by another 4km trail run.

To ensure children are also able to become involved, Sasol has incorporated a Kids Duathlon event, into each leg of the series. Consisting of a 500m trail run, followed by a 4000m bike ride and then another 500m trail run, the race is great way to get the whole family involved.
